Stepping Stones

The old saying goes sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. That is a lie. True, stones being thrown, sticks being thrown, can cause outward bruises. The words that we use can cause inward bruises, it causes the heart to deflate instead of inflate with encouragement and help and hope.  There are times where we need to stop and reflect what our words are doing where our words are coming from. I'm just as guilty as the next person that has to watch what I say. Watch the tone that I use and make sure that I reflect the love of Christ in my words.  Stones are hard they are not meant to be thrown. They're meant to be stepped on. Here's what I mean stepping stones. Jesus told Peter to "come"  As he asked Jesus to have him walk on the water. Jesus threw out a word, he threw out a Stone called "come", and on that word Peter stepped, he stepped on that word to be able to come to Jesus as Jesus had told him.  But what also was a stepping Stone was his faith, he used his mouth to create the words of "Lord, If it is, you tell me to come to you", what did also Peter do in that moment? He asked. ASK.  He asked, he seeked he found and in finding he knew the Lord to be faithful. So today reflect on your words. It represents who you are, and it also represents the Kingdom of Christ.
